Ten years ago, Brown Girls Doc Mafia began as a whisper between creatives and professionals shut out of the industry’s inner circles. Today, we’re a global force of over 5,000 women and non-binary people of color in documentary film, shaping the field from the inside out.
Over the past decade, we’ve built more than access; we’ve built a movement. From our Talent Directory and Industry Access Program to Pay Transparency, Pause & Play, and more, BGDM has created bold initiatives, sparked culture shifts, and moved real power from the margins to the center. We train, uplift, and connect thousands through a community rooted in kinship, craft, and care. We don’t just show up, we shape the work, the language, and the lens. We lead with vision, reimagining the field and building new systems.
As we celebrate a decade of art, community, and liberation, we invite you to join us in shaping the next ten. Because when our people are seen, supported, and in solidarity, the whole industry shifts.
