Biography
Tara L. Conley⠀is a documentary filmmaker and interdisciplinary scholar and with an established research agenda in the field of communication and media. Conley is also an assistant professor of media studies at Montclair State University, and the 2021-2022 Race and Technology Practitioner Fellow at Stanford University. In 2015, Conley produced the documentary Brackish about life in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. She is currently wrapping up production on her latest full length documentary film, DRY BONES about Ike Maxwell, a legendary Elyria High School Black football player of the 1970s whose brother was shot and killed by a white Elyria police officer in a small Ohio town confronting a long history of racial tension. Conley is also the founder of MEDIA MAKE CHANGE, a media production and consulting company established in 2009.
