Biography
Jean Rheem is a Korean-American documentary film editor & producer based in Los Angeles. Her most recent work is Bad Press, a documentary feature that has been described as having “the slightly giddy “are you seeing what I’m seeing?” tenor of a classic muckraking narrative like All the President’s Men.” (Variety). It premiered at SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL in 2023 and won a Special Jury Award.
Her previous work includes Accepted, an award-winning documentary about ambitious high school students in rural Louisiana caught in the middle of a national college scandal. It was produced by Concordia Studio, Boardwalk Pictures & Jubilee Media, and premiered at TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL in 2021.
Jean is a KAREN SCHMEER FILM EDITING FELLOW and a proud member of A-Doc, Brown Girls Doc Mafia (BGDM) and Alliance of Doc Editors.
In 2021, she was granted BGDM's inaugural SUSTAINABLE ARTIST AWARD.
