Active Projects

Heroine (Working Title) | Feature Documentary | Director | In Production: Sakshana Salgar has spent her life in love with politics. But in a system built on lineage and power, she has neither. Battling sexism, casteism and political gatekeeping, she chases her first chance to run for the big office. Heroine (w.t.) is a Bollywood-esque political musical - a classic underdog story, in which with all odds stacked against her, Sakshana decides how far she’s willing to go, and what she’s willing to lose, to claim her place in India’s political future.

Aunties (W.t.) | Short Documentary | Producer | Post Production
In a story that connects two centuries, Berkeley-based historian and artist, Barnali, spearheads a grassroots campaign to rename a street after Kala Bagai, an unsung South Asian woman who organized communities in California against intense racial discrimination in the early 1910s. In the process, Barnali discovers her own political power.

Echoes from the Dust | Short Hybrid Film | Producer | In Production
Memories, like shifting dunes, are made up of countless fragments of sand. “Echoes from the Dust” unfolds such memories shared by three friends - documentary filmmakers - who recount their haunting experiences of abuse during their filmmaking journeys. As one begins to speak, the others find echoes of their own experiences, creating a powerful, shared and shape shifting narrative. The textures of the film comprise voices, animation, live action and feelings.
