Biography
Vatsala Goel⠀(she/ her)⠀is a San Francisco and LA based cinematographer and camera operator who was born and raised in Kolkata, India.
Her recent clients include PBS, Netflix, CBS Primetime show 48 Hours, Tribeca Studios, AwesomenessTV, 23&me, Hollister and Salesforce.
Her narrative, branded and documentary films have premiered in competition at Sundance, Tribeca, AFI Docs, Cinequest, Clermont Ferrand, IFFLA and MAMI Film Festivals amongst others.
She is a 2020 ASC Vision Mentorship Recipient [Mentor: Nancy Schreiber, ASC].
Aggie, a documentary feature film she co-DP’d premiered at Sundance Film Festival, 2020.
Blood and Glory premiered in competition at the Tribeca Film Festival, 2020 and won
the grand jury prize at WIM’s Camaraderie competition.
In 2019, Chromosome 19 premiered at Tribeca film festival and A Tale of Two Kitchens premiered at Tribeca, AFI Docs and continues to stream worldwide on Netflix.
Her first feature film The Train Leaves at Four was recommended on the NFDC Film Bazaar's Viewing Room list in 2015 and premiered in the India Story section at the MAMI film festival, 2015.
Vatsala has lectured as_ _adjunct faculty of cinematography at the School of Cinema, San Francisco State University.
She graduated with an M.F.A. in cinematography from the Film and Television Institute, India and a B.A. in english literature from Calcutta University.
Vatsala is multilingual, owns a Blackmagic 6K camera package and is available to travel on assignment.
