Biography

kelechi agwuncha is an Igbo-American documentary filmmaker, teaching artist, and sound and video artist whose work reanimates archival material through documentary, sound art, and installation, using percussive force as a connective thread. A former athlete, they explore athletic gesture and spatiality as rehearsals of play, engaging the theatrics and embodied endurance of performance.

Their work has been exhibited at Black International Cinema Berlin, MoMA PS1, Black Harvest Film Festival, and the Chicago Architecture Biennial, among others. Kelechi holds an MFA in Visual Arts from the University of California, San Diego, and studied under the Isaac Julien Lab at the University of California, Santa Cruz. They have followed the Haitian National Swim Team across international competitions, filming at events including the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Federation (CCCAN) Championships, the Paris Olympics, and the Greek Lifesaving Cup.
