Biography

ZIYNE ABDO is a journalist, filmmaker, and future anthropologist based in Brooklyn, New York. Her work explores community empowerment and human connection.

Born and raised in Minnesota's Twin Cities, her personal experiences serve as the foundation of her artistic and journalistic influences.

Ziyne's work focuses on informative visual storytelling. Through her work, she aims to challenge viewers to critique the society they live in and inspire them to reflect on their perspectives and actions to achieve a fair and liberated world. As a producer at Paramount's Inside Edition Digital, she intentionally seeks out stories of individuals who have been failed by the powers meant to protect them.

Her latest narrative short film, 'being,' was officially selected to screen at several film festivals, including the British Urban Film Festival and New Faces New Voices. Ziyne is among 11 other chosen filmmakers to participate in BRIC's Documentary Intensive 2025 cohort, where she will direct and produce a short documentary to be screened in the spring.

Ziyne graduated magna cum laude from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts on May 2022 with her Bachelor's in Film and Television with honors and Journalism with honors. She hopes to enter a graduate program in anthropology to explore contemporary revolutionary movements and their societal impact and use visual storytelling to educate and inspire global advocacy for systemic equity.
