Biography

Triparna Banerjee is a screenwriter, filmmaker, and impact producer dedicated to bringing stories from the fringes to the fore that resonate across borders. Her work has been showcased at film festivals such as Toronto, Busan, CPH: DOX, Palm Springs, and Rotterdam and has gained recognition with selections at film forums like L'atelier Cinéfondation at the Cannes Film Festival, HAF at the Hong Kong Film Festival, and APM at the Busan International Film Festival. Her most recent directorial project, the short film ‘Nails’’, premiered at the Red Sea International Film Festival in December 2024. 

As a writer and impact producer, her documentary, ‘From the Shadows,’ has received the Hatched grant from Chicken & Egg Pictures, USA, and was nominated for the One World Media Awards in 2023 as well as the National Awards in 2024. She served as an associate producer on the critically acclaimed feature film 'Frozen' (2009), which premiered at TIFF and gained international acclaim with over 30 festival selections and 18 awards, including 2 National Awards in India. She began her career as a writer for Sesame Street India.

She is a Film Independent's Global Media Maker fellow, an EthnoKino’s Mov(i)ement Fellow —supported by UniBern, and an Acumen fellow. Alongside her filmmaking pursuits, she teaches as a visiting faculty member for film schools and media institutes.
