Zeb Achonu⠀is a London based film and TV editor with twenty years of experience in the broadcasting industry. Her work spans various genres including Factual, Childrens and Entertainment, but now has a focus on Documentary and Drama. Zeb has edited BAFTA and Emmy award winning content and has a number of great British classics to her name, such as _EastEnders, Bear Grylls Survival School, _and_ Blue Peter. She has extensive experience in both long and short form work. Much of her work is on one hour documentary programmes for mainstream UK broadcast channels, although she also enjoys working for smaller independents and on short films. Zeb was selected as one of the Edinburgh TV Festival Ones To Watch 2020. She was a member of BAFTA Crew 2019/20 and is now a full member of BAFTA. Zeb is often invited to speak on panels about editing, diversity, and navigating the industry. She lives in London with her film Gaffer partner Léopold Naessens (Blue Story) and their 3 young children.

Active Projects

I edited the feature documentary White Nanny Black Child, which explored an untold part of UK history when over 70,000 children from West African families were unofficially fostered without regulation into white British families between the 1950s and 1990s. This film has been screened around the UK and internationally. It won the RTS TV Award for History programme, and the BAFTA TV Award for Specialist Factual 2024.

Recent work has included Ladies First: A Story of Women in Hip Hop (Netflix),  Jimmy Akingbola: Handle With Care (ITV), following acclaimed actor Jimmy Akingbola as he tells his own story about growing up in the care system in England, while exploring themes including identity, mental health, and cultural connection, and also David Baddiel’s Jews Don’t Count (Channel 4), Where Have All The Lesbians Gone? (Channel 4), and a number of music docs including Queens of Rap (Channel 4); Made In Britain, a 3 part series covering Jungle, UKG and Grime (1Xtra/ iPlayer).

I am currently working on a feature documentary about dual heritage, geneology and slavery.
