Biography

Kasey L. Martin is a visionary filmmaker and artist utilizing her multidisciplinary practice to delve into identity, intimacy, and the quiet tensions of everyday life. Her work moves between documentary and narrative, often blurring the line between lived experience and speculative imagination. After graduating from Kingston University London with an MA in filmmaking, Kasey first started in the industry as an apprentice editor on the STARZ TV show Powerbook II: Ghost (Season II). She has since edited numerous short films, including Bleached, which won the NAACP Shorts Competition in 2025. Her experience as an editor has deeply influenced her approach to directing, with a unique focus on rhythm and visual storytelling.

A 2025 Oglethorpe Award for Excellence in Georgia Cinema nominee, Kasey also earned a Jury Special Mention at the Atlanta Film Festival for her short film Swimming Holes. Her work has screened with platforms like Brown Girls Doc Mafia, in collaboration with Video Consortium, and was selected for NewFest Pride's SHORTS: Black Queer Pride Mixtape (with Vimeo). Her distinctive approach to storytelling has garnered both recognition and acclaim.
