Biography

Destinie Adelakun⠀is an independent documentary filmmaker, photographer and multidisciplinary artist with 3 years of directing and producing experience. She is currently in the process of releasing her new documentary _Behind the art _and is also in advanced production of another feature documentary titled Return of the Diaspora. She has been appointed as the Executive producer for a British TV-Series _Nostalgia _which will be premiered in 2023 on a global broadcasting platform._ _As an emerging film maker and artist Destinie has been recognized for her work by New York Foundation for the arts and has been awarded _Canadian Woman Artist Award in 2020. Her photography work Daughters of the diaspora will be featured in the Toronto Art Festival Nuit Blanche _ in October 2022. Destinie received a Bachelors degree in Fashion styling and production from the London College of Fashion. She was born in Nigeria, raised in India and now lives and work between Toronto and New York City.

Behind the art:
In this emotional and educational interview style documentary seven Toronto based artists share their journey with mental health. In a quest to debunk the stereotypes placed in immigrant and diasporic family households.

Return of the diaspora :
In this captivating and poetic documentary, a woman returns to her hometown of Lagos in search of her origin. Upon meeting her father for the first time, she found untold stories. Which took her to the past brought healing and new understanding to the experiences that shape the African diaspora. 

Nostalgia:
Nostalgia is set around 5 different stories exploring themes based on
the five stages of grief. Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance.
