Alejandra Vasquez

Alejandra Vasquez⠀is a Mexican-American director and producer. Raised in rural Texas, Alex's directorial debut Going Varsity in Mariachi premiered at Sundance 2023 in the US Documentary Competition.

Her short film works include 'When It's Good, It's Good,' co-produced with Latino Public Broadcasting, and 'Folk Frontera' (SXSW 2022 / Independent Lens), winner of the 2022 SXSW Texas Shorts Jury Award. Her work has been supported by SFFILM, JustFilms | Ford Foundation, Latino Public Broadcasting, PBS, IF/Then Shorts, Field of Vision, Film Independent, and more. She cut her teeth on the producing side as part of the teams behind the award-winning features Matangi/Maya/M.IA. (2018) and Us Kids (2020) and is set to co-produce an upcoming feature by Nanfu Wang.

She's currently developing her second feature-length documentary about the Green Card lottery.
