Biography

Krista Abela⠀is an associate producer working out of New York and California. Her freelance work spans field and office production management, ranging from independent documentary features to news/doc-series on major networks.

She recently worked as a field associate producer for Us Kids (2020), a documentary centered on the gun-reform youth activists behind March For Our Lives. Us Kids premiered in the U.S. Documentary competition at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, and went on to win the Full Frame Film Festival Award for Human Rights. Prior to this, Krista coordinated the distribution and grassroots impact campaign for Sundance Award-Winning & Oscar-Shortlisted documentary _Unrest _(2017), which brings awareness to the chronic disease ‘ME/CFS’ and advocates for disability rights.

Before finding her love of documentary storytelling, Krista worked in feature film development at Paramount Pictures, where she supported the Story Department’s script and greenlight process. She holds a B.A. in Screenwriting from Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film & Media.
